"Serenity" Screening and Officer Applications
For everyone in BookWorlds: In conjunction with the Firefly decal, on 4/23 at 7pm in 166 Barrows we'll be screening Joss Whedon's amazing film 'Serenity'!
Bring some friends, bring some food, and bring your browncoat, because this is going to be an awesome event!
We will be provinding some snacks, as always (I'm making funfetti cake!), and you're welcome to contribute if you like! We'll be hanging out, discussing the Unification War, and just being our regular shiny selves.
If you've never seen Serenity, this event is absolutely for you!! It doesn't matter whether you've seen Firefly or not (obviously it builds upon that but I actually saw Serenity first), and this will be tons of fun!
BookWorlds intends to keep flying into our 10th year as a club at UC Berkeley, and we want you to join us in the last event of the Spring 12 semester!

---Officer positions are available for next year! Applications are due on Friday April 27th at midnight and can be requested from and submitted electronically to m.bookworlds -at- gmail.com. Current officers, if they would like to retain their position or change positions, must also submit an application. This will be the 10th year BookWorlds is on campus, and I plan on trying to do a lot of new and returning events in these next few semesters and really expanding the club. If you have the energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and tenacity to help make these goals a reality, I encourage you to apply to be a club officer! I am also looking for a current freshman or sophomore interested in becoming Vice President and staying involved with the club over time. If you are a lower classman I particularly encourage you to apply for this position.
DeCal Planning Meeting & Game Night!

We will be having a DeCal Planning Meeting/Game Night next Monday (3/19) at 7pm in 51 Evans! We'll be playing games, competing in some legit nerd trivia, and talking about our plans for Fall 2012! Next semester we'll be celebrating our 10th Anniversary as a club on campus, so let's honor this incredible landmark by offering some awesome DeCals!! We'll have food, fun people, and lots of information for you at the meeting, so get excited! Please feel free to invite your friends, and if current decal instructors could forward this email to their classes or make an announcement during class I would be much obliged.

Game Night! (November 18th in 109 Dwinelle from 7-9pm)

This Friday (11/18) we will be having a fantastic, challenging, intellecutally stimulating, thrilling, nerdy GAME NIGHT!
It will be in 109 Dwinelle starting at 7pm.
We'll be playing nerd jeopardy (getexcited!) and possibly charades or pictionary!
We hope to see you at this awesome event!
I'll be bringing food, as usual- feel free to bring some snacks or just come with your finely crafted intellect and your competitive companions!
Even if you're not a huge trivia buff (we'll try to catch everything from Ender's Game to LOTR) or are not the fiercely competitive type, we still encourage you to come! It's sure to be a great night!
It's time to see who's passed their NEWTs, who can stand up to cylons and cyborgs alike, and who can take down Saruman in a battle of wits!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog Sing-A-Long + CONTEST! (October 17th at 7pm in 210 Wheeler)
Bookworlds! We will be having a contest at our event! Come to the sing-a-long prepared with an application to the Evil League of Evil ( a la 'Bad Horse' or 'Dr. Horrible', but as your own character!) OR with a speech to your adoring fans (get creative with this!), and you could win a Dr. Horrible themed prize! This should be a ton of fun- it's your opportunity to come up with your own super-villan or super-hero character that could be in the Dr. Horrible world! Think of a name, a persona, maybe even some favorite moves or weapons; the format is entirely up to you! If you haven't seen it, you can still come up with your own character- anything wacky and unusual is welcome. :) The club as a whole will be voting on their favorite entry. Bring food, bring your friends, bring a creative entry for our contest! |
